thanks for this article! it helps to map verbs and nouns to the different processes we experience in building prototypes.

I work for Torch, but this post is not so much about Torch, and more of a "I can never find instruction on some things that seem like they should be easy so I want to make a how-to" post.

If you've ever had trouble taking panoramic images and wrapping them into spheres, check this out! It's only 10 minutes long, and will get you working with photospheres in no time.

    Hey, Keith from Torch here.

Check out this new post from one of our own, Kami Karras, wherein we detail a few critical moments where animations can play a big role in supporting the experience you create in AR.

As always, hit us up in the comments with questions or feedback, and go get the Torch app if you want to get started building in AR.

    Hey Designernews!

This is a mashup of a couple of articles I wrote a while back regarding how you can start prototyping in Torch AR using tools you already know, like Sketch and InVision.

Check it out, and leave a comment to let me and the Torch crew know if you have any questions!

I wouldn't resort to hyperbole, but the app is kinda problematic for me.

Firstly, I can never get it to connect to Wi-fi without first connecting via cable. After it connects to Wi-Fi once, it works fine...until,

Secondly, whether the artboard I'm looking at will update is a dice roll at best.

Lastly, I find myself opening it 2-3 times as much as I should, as quitting and restarting the app seems to be the only way to get it to refresh sometimes.

I still use it though. When it works, it definitely helps. But, yeah, it's problematic. I guess I don't sit around cursing its name, is all.

  • Posted to Adding AR to your InVision prototype with Torch, Oct 30, 2018

Based on the popularity of the writeup I did on how to get assets from Sketch to Torch AR, I wanted to share this next one, which takes AR prototyping a step further.

You already use InVision for prototyping and testing your mobile app. So, when your client or product manager asks to see how AR could fit in to your current app experience, what do you do? You build a prototype in Torch, grab the project link, and connect it directly to your existing mobile prototype, that’s what.

Please upvote if you find this useful, and let me know in the comments if there’s anything else you’d like to see from the Torch team.

    Hi Todd,

Currently we only support static image files, so .png, .jpg, .gif, etc.

We plan to add support for animated gif and video files in the future, but we haven't nailed down a timeline for that. I'll add your message into our request pipeline, so we can track it.

    Thanks for checking it out!
