Thanks for sharing this. Mine is similar to this: “Keep things thoughtfully simple.” Because keeping things simple alone is not enough most of the times, I learned this the hard way. Sometimes simple alone can be too plain or easy. “Too” is never good, design must be balance. Sometimes we need fun, sometimes we need a necessary extra step — but whatever it is you need, design it thoughtfully.

Google Chrome browser is acting funny for me. It is harder to click on links or buttons — sometimes I need to click my mouse 3 or 4 times. I have no issue on Firefox. Is anyone else experience this?

First of all, we need to define what creativity is. I think creativity is about solving problem by connecting things. When your company have a UI guideline, chances are most things are already connected. But there are always things that could be better. Be able to find those things are also part of creativity. You can't solve problems that you can't see. Maybe with 1-year of working experience it might be harder for you to do that, but overtime as you evolved you will begin to see those disconnected things and find better solution. That for me is creativity.

Nice update. I still wish there's a way to unlock all layers.

  • Posted to Ask DN: Do you use CSS or JS for animations/transitions?, Jul 30, 2014

When animating stuff, what I am looking for is the balance between performance and ease to maintain.

I use CSS animation if: 1. The animation is triggered by hover. 2. The animation properties are rotate, scale, transform, opacity, and color/background-color.

Other than that I prefer to use Velocity.js.
