Hi, there's a women-in-tech channel in the Designer Hangout Slack community (https://userexperiencedesign.slack.com/). It's a pretty active channel with daily discussions and stories. I've been in the industry for about 10 years and it's my favorite online haven for women so far. I've used it myself to find inspiration and hope. There are some pretty awesome women in there, check it out when you have the chance.

I'm feeling some serious portfolio envy right now. This looks very sharp, thoughtful, and simply well designed. The scrolling doesn't bother me at all, and to be fair you didn't state that you were a web developer so it really didn't make me think less of your craftsmanship in design.

The only critique I have, mind you this pretty small in comparison to all the positive things I think, is that in the hero there's a text that changes in a type-machine style, you write "Product Designer", which isn't a weird thing of itself. But, as I was going through your portfolio I was looking for some evidence of design-process or photos that show your decision-making (product) journey. I think what you do show clearly supports visual & brand design (ie. talking about grids, pulling out typefaces).

It's a small nitpicky word smithing comment, but feedback regardless. Again, I think the experience of going through your portfolio feel & look great.

Thanks for posting this question. This sparked a lot of good discussion and feedback.

You have a great portfolio! Visually I think it's great. I want to echo what others have said about the content/language in terms of showing your process, or your experience on working through projects. Other than that I think you've done great work on this.

I clicked on your link expecting a thoughtful critique of the gradients' article that's going around, instead, it was a satirical effort to make fun of it. While I see that it was supposed to be funny, I thought it was it cruel. I don't bring this up to start a witch hunt by any means, but I come here (DN) to see different perspectives on design. Your post seems to promote bullying not necessarily healthy discussion.

I'm hoping you could expand more on your tensions with the original article.

I really like the pull down quick look for each app setting. This would save so many steps.

I'm in San Francisco and I've definitely felt this often. Every event I've been to feels very intimidating. I also think it takes a lot of time to blog and create your own work consistently while trying to maintain a workload and personal life. Like most things, it's a balancing act. No advice here, but you're not the only one.
