We have channels based on project/team and some general purpose ones. We aren't limited to "strictly business" communication as we have fun channels like #random, #gifs, and #inspiration. We share articles, resources, and of course cute animal pics. We really love Slack.

For a site that is trying to differentiate itself from other social networks (see linked article above), I'm confounded by the fact that I'm restricted from posting until I link my profile to another existing social network (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, or Foursquare). For someone who is trying to get away from the likes of those platforms, this is a major turnoff. To say this is for the purpose of "validating your identity" is just insulting.
