The name lead me to believe it was something else, but this is actually really useful. Trying to make these icon patterns manually seems always to be a challenge, since you are basically trying to simulate disorder/randomness yet in a structured visually pleasing pattern.
For those who can't make it work properly, heres a chrome extension that does the same thing.
Working primarily from a retina display, i feel im bounded to work in 2x nonetheless. Though in regards to designing a mobile app, you should always go 1x.
Really like this solution as well for it's simplicity. Great example of this for iOS.
Though i find the major reason to generally avoid putting the placeholder text inside the element as a default, is because users tend to instinctively think a current value is already in place. It's not your cup of tea? Well me neither. But for you his logo just achieved a lot more than most. It made you think and feel.
If you could only recommend one book that wasn't your own, which one would it be?
