    Good portfolio.

Pro: Having spent some of my career hiring and designing software for people that hire people – I think it's good you separated selected works from the rest of portfolio. It allows for a quick overview of your best work without having to go through the full portfolio.

Con: Your full viewport header/hero doesn't communicate anything that isn't said better in your about section. I'd recommend moving your about section to the top and make it your lead.

Moving all plugins out of the plugin folder and relaunching Sketch worked for me to solve this problem. Disabling them wasn't enough. Then moved all the plugins back without any issues so far.

Couldn't be happier with them. I provide a set for every new design hire as a small welcome gift.

  • Posted to Ask DN: iPad Pro as my main computer, any apps you recommend?, Jan 25, 2016

I'm going through the process of figuring out a process after noticing that I never use my laptop at home anymore. Apps not mentioned that I use and that work well for multitasking:

    • OmniOutliner for outlining and lists
    • The Hitlist for task management
    • Evernote for all note needs
    • iA Writer for specs and anything that's not a note
    • Marvel for easy prototyping
    • Coda and Working Copy (Git) for the little bit of code I still do
    • Slack, Hipchat, and Skype for communication needs

Creative, but I think we've now reached peak cheap Apple critique.

If you block trackers the CSS doesn't render in Safari. Was that also about saying no?

  • Posted to Designers that've transitioned from working for a company to full-time consulting & freelance: What's helped your transition and what wisdom would you pass on?, Jul 08, 2015

Top five recommendations from when I freelanced.

    1. Keep a nest-egg/buffer that would sustain you for about 3 months if you can't find work or as a reserve for when you want to take vacation. This should not be your savings or retirement fund.

    2. Set up finder-fee deals with clients, fellow freelancers (not necessarily designers – lawyers, accountants, etc...) to incentivize cross promotion of services.

    3. Always sign contracts for work. A lawyer is not only for when bad things happen.

    4. Use "Anchoring" as a negotiating tactic. Personally I always found it easier to negotiate day rates vs. hourly or project.

    5. Stay on top of your taxes, get an accountant if finances end up taking to much of your time.

5.5 Have fun, work on side projects, and stay physically and mentally healthy.

Push.conference 2014 in Münich. 2 days single track with great speakers (https://vimeo.com/pushconf/videos), and one more day for a workshop with the Google Ventures design sprint guys. I plan to attend this year.

I'm not a religious person (nor spiritual) but the interface and interactions are very nice. A well polished app.
