  • Posted to Huntr: a Kanban board for your job applications, in reply to Cristian Moisei , Apr 18, 2017

Hey Cristian, appreciate your comment. I think Huntr is useful even for a modest number of applications. I built Huntr from my own experience with the job hunt, I must have applied to no more than 15 or 20 positions and found myself frustrated at the lack of visibility on where I was in terms of my efforts, and at the fact that my main job search tool (email) was mixed with personal, school and all other kinds of stuff.

Here's a few use cases our users find Huntr good for:

    • You browse job boards and find interesting positions you want to apply to, it's easy to save these with Huntr (we offer a chrome extension for quickly adding any job to your board)
    • You get a phone interview at one of your dream companies, you need to do research to prepare good questions, Huntr has notes where you can save those, along with the name of the person who's interviewing you, all of it in one place.
    • You are frustrated with the job search, being able to visualize where you are in that process helps a lot, it shows you the facts of where you stand, this might not seem like a big deal, but believe me, it makes a world of a difference.

As some people have mentioned, Trello and Spreadsheets are the go-to tools for this, and they do a great job, but I think there's a lot more that can be done to help applications. The product is not even close to it's full potential, but I definitely think there's a market for it, we have some very interesting features coming out in the next few months!
