I've actually tried learning Swift a while back and also tried Meng To's book. I have the same background as you, know HTML & CSS, but it never really stuck. About a year ago I got into React and React Native and I was up and running in no time. Now I use it every day.

I think the location is part of the picture. I don't think they would use a different font and have a white bar on top and below the image.

I think this is a very good point. Maybe then it wouldn't have infringed on their ToS (not allowed to make money of their content) and Soundcloud would have had no grounds to make you take it down so quickly. You would have had more download > more users > stronger position to negotiate...
I feel like you are forgetting one big thing here with both your articles. And that is that if you built a product based on somebody else's content/service, you have to accept that they have control over the future of your product.
