"interactive mockups" is a great way to describe them. I completely agree.
I always do a complete prototype with Invision to validate the app structure and navigation. Then I use FramerJS to prototype simple interaction or a specific feature.
I would love to do a complete prototype with FramerJS, but it would take too much time. Not every screen have interactions that deserves to be prototyped.
When New Yorkers and Londoners had their own DN meetup, we were a bit jealous. So we decided to organize our own in Paris :)
