The flows in the Adobe XD Design Specs indicate connections between artboards (that's how I see it in the Design Specs). What I'm looking for is the ability to visualize the flow based on connecting the artboards with particular UI elements.

For example, you have three buttons on the main screen. Each button takes you to a different screen. It would be useful to see the connection lines going from each button to the appropriate screen instead of just showing connections between the artboards. Similar to what you see in the prototyping mode of XD just with the ability to have the connections displayed without the need to select an artboard + an option to export the flows in a PDF or similar.

Hi. Do you plan to integrate the ability to create flows? Since we create prototypes in XD already, it could automatically create flow diagrams without any extra work.

When do you plan to release a feature set that would enable us to create custom animations a la After Effects? By that, I don't mean to use the same UI as in AE.

And if the answer to the question is sometime later this year is there a plan to at least have the ability to import XD files into After Effects?

Not sure where you are getting your information that there are "only a fraction of people interested in XD".

Agree. Use my 6 Plus to read and the narrow screen of the X makes the text lines shorter.

Importing the XD file into AE and use it to create UI animations. The same way you can do it with an PSD or AI file. A better option would be to have animation capabilities in XD and an export option similar to Bodymovin.

I have used XD on three full projects so far and it worked fine. Had to do some mockups in PS to use it for animations in AE but other than that it was ok.

As for major updates this year I think you've answered your question and is that not a lot? I mean we could always argue that it should be more especially if someone is missing a particular feature but still it doesn't seem to me that it's a slow product development process.

In my opinion there's been a lot of progress from the initial version of XD back in march 2016 to the current one. It could probably be faster but on the other side it's one of the most stabile tools currently available on the market. So not to deal with time wasting bugs is a benefit.

Also people tend miss the fact that even though Adobe is a large company, projects like XD initially start with a small group of people. The project team starts to grow only after the product has some positive traction on the market. Even then you cannot just add 100s of new members since it could brake the whole product development process. But this is just in general, not sure how Adobe has done it with the XD team.
