I thought the site was broken, came back and saw your comment. I use a wireless mouse and pushing the scroll wheel to the right for navigation is an absolutely terrible experience.

Spotify didn't make this site, Active Theory did.

I really don't understand the thinking behind this execution for a portfolio page of an interactive designer. If you're trying to show off your skills and thinking there are just too many inexcusable mistakes IMO. There is a massive sacrifice of usability at the hands of being "cool". It feels over designed and over animated.

Starting the site with a message of how to navigate the site because it is in no way intuitive... The preview images of the projects are way too small that they are almost an after thought. I'm just messing around with that rollover effects and not paying attention to anything else. The work links get totally lost with that rollover effect. There's a lack of hierarchy that would point me to any CTA like "view this project" or "Get in Touch". I almost feel like the whole point of the site for that background rollover effect.

Love the creativity here, but it feels like an experiment rather than a portfolio.

Monument Valley aside, this is still a pretty awful site. I scrolled through the entire thing, and have no idea what I'm looking at. The animations are slow, clunky, and reposition my location on the page. Most often I am looking at a black screen waiting for something to happen. You can't just assume a user will scroll at the speed you want them to, just to make the animations look good. The nav doesn't stay at top, so I have to scroll all the way back up just to navigate the site.

In my opinion, the entire site is just an unpleasant experience.

No problem, glad it was helpful. Understand about the WIP, looking forward to seeing it up.

I like the header and colors you used, just be careful with your image selection. If you choose one, it should have a reason.

I don't think you need to necessarily "spice up" the copy, just think of how it reads from a perspective client/employer. You are really trying to sell yourself and sound like you know what you're doing. It's a tricky balance between professional and fun creative. Good luck!
