  • Posted to It's 2018 and Material Design still uses a floppy disk as a Save icon, Jun 05, 2018

I still use the save icon as my avatar, it's very distinctive. Ditto what others have mention, no point reinventing the wheel. I see many attempts trying to on the new save icon, looks either like download or no clue what it means.

Interesting. I'm also looking for tools that tracks the projects I'm working on. Like a daily log; how much time I spend on the projects and turn into data visualization to look back on my progress.

    Love the answer.

Charlie: Do you consider yourself an artist or designer? (12:58)

Jony: I think of myself as part artist, part designer, part engineer, part builder, part craftsman, I think it's a real mixture but in all of that I'm genuinely comfortable being surprise, being wrong...

  • Posted to Ask DN: Animation handoff from Design to Dev?, Aug 13, 2015

I use Tumult's Hype 3 to simulate animation and screen to screen transitions for my web projects. It's a dead simple tool using keyframe-based animation which I could export it as a HTML.

If I need to make a gif, I would use LICEcap to record it.

I'm lucky to work with amazing developers that are able to reproduce when I show them my prototype without needing the actual code.

  • Posted to Ask DN: Definition of “Senior Designer” in your company?, Mar 16, 2015

Designers are problem solvers. This is how I would classify them:

Junior designer: The problems and solutions are there and your job as a designer is to execute the design.

Mid-level designer: The problem is there but the solution is not. Your job is to understand the problem and to create a solution.

Senior designer: The problems and solutions are unknown. Your job is to identify the problem and create solution(s).
