Ironic that a website about UX has bad UX.
Really dig the reversal of the standard hover behaviour for image/text overlaying. (showing the text and then the image on hover).
Would be killer if I bothered updating my linked in. haha. nice job man.
It's a really specific use case.
the content needs to scale to fit any aspect ratio or dimensions.
I can then set the html font size at a tall portrait aspect ratio to vw or short wide landscape to vh and all the em values I've used scale to fit.
Just in case this helps anyone.
I realise setting your html font size to a viewport value isn't the way to go for every situation. But I had a need for it, and was disappointed by the lack of support.
After hours of searching for a vmax polyfill, I gave up and recreated it in javascript.
Nailed it.
Middleman to generate the static pages, contentful for the cms and netlify to deploy, works a treat.
I really dig https://middlemanapp.com
1st off, Thank you Eli for writing something vaguely positive for a change.
One of the only remaining fields of UI design in which expressive depth is not yet forbidden is video game design.
You can't really compare video ui game design and functional app interfaces. Video games are art, so it makes sense for the ui to match the art style and aesthetic of a game. If facebook's ui went all steampunk i doubt you would be praising it, even though it might be perfect in the context of a game.
