Great question, I can see how that would come across that way!

"Link in bio" is a common Instagram turn of phrase, people will write things like "Check the link in bio".

"Insta website" is just something we made up to try to get people's minds away from a regular website. The sites our app makes are super simple, swipe-able, and made for mobile (almost mobile only, though they do work on desktop).

Hopefully that heps, that said ... Feedback noted!! :)

That's great feedback - there are a lot of link in profile tools (and yep most of them are web apps) - we're aiming to build something much bigger - and I'm really glad to hear you took the plunge!!!

  • Posted to Envato Elements Launch - unlimited downloads, lifetime pricing, in reply to Parvez S , Aug 05, 2016

Hi Parvez - thanks for the comment, we do have a lot to fix in the way our review systems work. And we actually have a large team working on a fresh approach, which we're going to slowly trial and roll out through Envato Market. Because it's so big, it takes a long time to make changes (and I guess is a bit of a corporation sometimes).

So basically tl:dr; we are working on that too!

Hey mitchell, I'm not sure if you were expecting an answer, but fwiw here's one :-)

I think the key is that nobody gets paid in %, but in $. I always encourage authors and designers to figure out how to maximise their overall earnings. At the end of the day you can make (almost) 100% if you sell using a Gumroad or Selz platform, but you're completely responsible for finding customers and making sales. We bring 2 million customers to the table :-)

Happily (unlike for iOS devs), there are heaps of platforms for designers to sell on! So there's nothing locking people into selling on Envato. They do it because it's a good platform for earning.

On Envato Market most sales are exclusive ones, and so the average split is actually pretty close to the Apple one. Elements is a subscription which is different - for instance you'll get paid a portion of subscription income from people who didn't download anything in a month.

    hope that helps!

  • Posted to The Rise and Fall of a Multimillion Dollar Flash Marketplace in One Chart, in reply to Ethan Clark , Oct 07, 2015

Hey Ethan! It was super stressful at the time and felt like the end of the world. Oddly enough though we got a traffic bump that month from the press stories about it. Our SEO survived the rebrand and I think if the fundamentals of Flash hadn't been experiencing a down trend it probably would have been all OK really!

Scary legal letter to receive though :-) especially for newbie entrepreneurs!!

Really enjoyed this write up! A brand cleanup in such a huge organisation and well used service is no small feat. Executed really well!
