Hover on link, try to click image, accidentlly move off link, can't click image, realize image is a hover effect with no action associated with it, close window.

This is my tool of choice: http://leaverou.github.io/contrast-ratio/. I also use Color Oracle on my mac to check for issues with color blindness.

Sidenote, I have stopped using "grey-ish" colors below about 18px. I have never met a grey block of text that I didn't have to squint to read. If I have that much trouble in my late 20s, then I really feel bad for my 40-year-old counterparts. Take pity on the old guys (joke) and stick to #444.

Kerem is a pretty good designer, but I don't really understand the purpose of this post without context. Honestly, I don't really see what sets his work apart from countless other people who aren't on the front page of dribbble...he just happens to be very savvy at branding himself. I would rather see a designer spotlight on someone who doesn't have a bunch of hype surrounding them, and information about why they deserve to be spotlighted.

Let me Pinterest that for you ;) Annual Reports:http://www.pinterest.com/search/boards/?q=annual%20reports

I love this service for organizing inspiration I come across, such as good branding materials, color inspiration, etc. Some of the design boards on here are excellent.

I completely see your points. However, Bill Kenney (http://dribbble.com/BillSKenney) is a perfect example of someone using Dribbble to showcase work in progress, not just perfectly polished clips. It's gained him a wealth of followers and prestige, plus the Focus Lab perspective clients get the opportunity to glance into their workflow. That can be a marketing tactic too!
