I tend to just say I'm a Senior Designer, everything else seems to change with the wind, and folk even slightly removed from what we do don't understand any of the other terminology anyway.
I would choose UI over UX for myself if asked to pick, even though I do wireframing, user testing and the like, the UI is the bit I'm most interested in, personally. Yeah, UI is a part of UX (and vice versa) but then it depends if it's genuinely a UI gig as to whether it's the right name for it; in some places it seems to be replacing Digital Designer as a term, which could include all sorts of stuff that isn't designing UI.
It looks quite pretty, but having previously done some design for a pension company, for the average person, this may not work well for that sort of customer.
Given that the majority aren't saving anywhere near enough for retirement (including me haha), in user testing we found that showing them that big target number actually encouraged further disengagement; telling someone who isn't saving they need X hundred grand plus made them think it was even more hopeless than they already did.
In the end we created a calculator that showed what their future monthly income would be, based on varying the amount they saved per month now, this seemed to encourage more engagement and made the users feel like it was a more achievable goal.
Saying that, very well off ones did respond to the big target number, but they were also much more likely to have financial advisers who did this sort of stuff for them...
I think it's a pretty poor solution to be honest, they've made the volume bar so small, that unless you're increasing it by a good few steps, you barely notice it moving.
It's very WipEout, the team behind it even reference the work the Designers Republic did as inspiration
My Sega Saturn one still has a fond place in my memory...
Interesting, had a chat with Jared when he was in Edinburgh a couple weeks ago, fascinating guy!
Seems like they are going after Times New Roman... Good!
That devil one... Nope.
Loved both parts of this, great read!

Pretty sure it was Freehand at school, then Photoshop 6 or 7 on a totally legit CD ROM my Uncle brought back from the Far East...
