The magic formula is something like that:

    • Music you already know and like
    • 50 to 80 bpm

I use "smarter playlists" tool from Spotify's Paul Lamere to generate it.

    Smart playlist

Just read about a different advice. Instead of mass-applying, select a few that really interest you, and set yourself apart by showing how you could help solve their specific problems. Worth reading: https://medium.com/personal-growth/how-to-use-angellist-to-get-a-remote-job-53d33f62532f

Rdio and others (soundcloud, youtube, hypem, TIMJ, Deezer ...) None of this music services has all the music. We are exposed to more and more sources. Our music librairies are more and more fragmented. I'm building http://disco.io with a friend to offer a personal streaming music librairies, that can centralize all our favorites and playlists. We don't support Spotify for now, because they are much less open that the other services. They don't allow users to match their collections and playlists to other services. That's a bit strange, but they own that, not you. Rdio and Deezer are much nicer about that.

Thanks Andy. We'll send you the invite very soon. Our server needs to digest a bit the big imports done today. Very happy with the Designer News effect. Probably not a big news, but it really looks like designers love music :)

We've set a limit to 30MB (about 30K tracks) per iTunes import for now. You don't import MP3 but XML files. If your library is larger you can do multiple imports (export playlists XML files). Processing time can vary, but it's very fast if we already matched those tracks before. If you have a large library with very uncommon tastes, it can take a bit more time, specially if there are lot of users doing imports at the same time. It shouldn't take more than a few hours in the worst case.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Regarding Spotify, we'd love to support them of course, but we can't right now. Their terms of services tell you don't own your own playlists (they do) and you're not allowed to convert them to another service. Also their web API, which is quite recent, doesn't offer full time streams (only 30s previews). We hope this will change or we can have a special agreement.

You can add tracks and playlists manually by pasting URLs, but you can also import all your favorites and playlists from different online services, and also your itunes library. We want to let you have all your favorite music in one place. We also try to match music between services so it's more secure and better quality (let's say you're a rdio subscriber, and you added a Youtube track, if possible we'll play it from rdio). I just sent your invite.
