Animator (previously Haiku) is a newish tool that focuses on making animations for web. It's pretty robust and the team is very active on their Slack channel and with updates.

Yeah that's what i thought, but I don't use Axure a ton so I am by no means an expert.

I have run into the same issue with InVision needing a bunch of screens to show variations (especially when prototyping navigation) so started looking at Axure. While it is a bit clunky in some areas and I don't think I'd ever design in it, states, variable data, and live inputs sold me on using it for more complex prototyping.

There is no direct import from Sketch (last I checked) but you can copy SVG from Sketch -> paste in Axure -> convert to Axure object (or something) and you have your design mostly perfectly pasted into Axure.

Again, by no means an expert on it, but I was pretty impressed with it for more advanced prototyping needs.

I've also been testing Eagle. Pretty great tool so far, though I do wish it had a little more english language support. But so far it seems the best bang for the buck. A native iOS/Android app would be great as well, and seems like something they are working on.

I definitely think so. Lottie uses bodymovin as well to export animations from after effects, it provides the code/wrappers to then use those animations natively in apps. I think for more robust animation elements it provides the most flexibility since you have the full use of shape layers in after effects.

I personally still use After Effects for most animation needs like this. And now with things like Lottie and Bodymovin, you can even export shape based AE animations as SVG and such for use in web and mobile apps.

I got the LG 34UM95-P last year and still love it. It's not 4K, but it is Ultrawide and has Thunderbolt support as well as HDMI and others. Been really happy with it so far. Great quality in both colors and black levels.

Cheers man, thanks for the info. I'll have to give FontExplorer a shot then.

How does FontExplorer do with a lot of fonts? Like, a lot. haha. I am trying out RightFont, and their speed with lots of fonts is nice. But I do find it lacking in some other key areas...

  • Posted to Ask DN: Midi controller for shortcut?, Aug 24, 2016

I came across this software/app called Quadro recently that uses your iPad or iPhone in a similar way. Basically you can create custom shortcuts and commands for different software and use the device to trigger them.

I have not tried this out myself but I am pretty intrigued by it. Similar to MIDI in theory I guess, but MIDI would be cool. Some motion studio had mentioned it in their workflow, but I can't remember where. Interested to hear if anyone has used it.
