The designers tend to make some very common responsive web design mistakes that can put the success of the site at risk. If you wish to create a uniform responsive UX environment for your visitors, you will do good by avoiding these mistakes.

    Don't design for desktop first - One of the common mistakes people make is designing a website for desktops first because they think it will be easy to turn it into responsive design for other devices. But this mistake during the planning stage itself can become a huge issue for you. It can cause rework and errors can creep up too.

    Excessive content - Unlike conventional website design that makes for very easy browsing, including too much content in mobile-optimized web designs makes the user endlessly scroll. It is best to limit the extent of content and also keep the most important information at the page-top for easy reading.

    Unreadability - Multiple fonts in the text make the page look cluttered. Large, uninterrupted blocks of text are as bad as excessive visual content. Don’t use controversial colour schemes, choose your fonts wisely, all the navigation icons are visible and, ultimately, enhance the conversation with your visitors.

    No responsive website - If your website can’t adjust to all major screen resolutions, you will potentially lose a lot of visitors as their experience has not been optimized.

    Poor navigation - It’s good practice when site visitors always know where they are at any given moment and have the possibility to travel through website pages freely and swiftly. Designers solve this issue in different ways. Some include pagination into the design, others prefer one-page layouts. The availability of different filters that simplify customers’ search works well either.

    Bad calls to action - Often the call to action is hidden too far down the page or too unremarkable to notice. Or there are competing calls to action on one page so visitors get confused. Web design should enable visitors to understand easily what the objective of your site is and/or what they can get out of it.
