I appreciate your sentiment, but am not optimistic about that happening.
"Ideas that do not lose relevance" are not in line with the operating premise and economy of a "news" website that values immediacy over history, professional fads over canonical knowledge, and hasty back-and-forth opining over the kind of slow and long-running discussion that such ideas warrant.
The nature of the medium can be worked against, but there doesn't seem to be much impetus in that direction, either on the part of the founders, or the users. As a result, what you get is today's Designer Tabloid (in which I'm quickly losing interest).
Who would say that pleasure is not useful?
The community is self-regulated and we are generally open to any type of post. Our rules are simple: Be nice, be thoughtful, and post good stuff.
