Not sure when they updated sketchapp.com, but it's gorgeous.

Zooming is super snappy now. Love the performance.

Just wait a little bit if you rely on Sketch Runner a lot. It's currently incompatible, but they're working on a fix: https://twitter.com/Sketch_Runner/status/1047091781345718272

The same goes for anyone who uses Abstract - they too have said hold off updating if you want to continue working 'safely' (whatever that means).

I've updated my OS and Sketch 52 - Abstract is still functioning, just a few weird bits and pieces of UI when it comes to the newly introduced DarkMode™

Muh Runneerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Seriously, damnit. I jumped the gun. But it's nice to hear they're working on a fix.

Hopefully it's soon. Without it, I don't know what to do with my hands.

I'm curious, like the Unsplash plugin, if I'll be able to search my own data set instead of applying things randomly. That would be useful for various image assets I use a lot (like posters, etc.) vs just making more symbols for things like that.

annoyed that you can no longer click on the word size under font size to easily drag the font size up and down.

I have the same "issue" it was way easier before, and I can't find the color if the color is set to white in the palette.

The new UI looks nice and the dark mode is cool but I think I prefer the Midnight plugin version of dark mode more. Wonder if that will get an update to work with 52.

Edit: See on their website it won't be supported. Bummer.

it actually seems noticeably slower to me, especially command clicking layers / objects within groups. there's a slight delay that wasn't there before.

I'm very worried! This is too slower than before. I working in a big file with many artboards and after de update its impossible to work! after each click is take a 2 seconds for respond. Just me are having this problem?

Anyone having color picker (ctrl+C) issues? Chooses black no matter what color I've hovered over.

Wow, a lot of little changes that have made it worse.

Cant change text size by dragging anymore Buttons at the top are pretty damn ugly Make exportable button is now right at the bottom but the exportable assets are at the top of the right side pane Can't just select two elements to mask one and automatically create a group Weird little layout changes.

Why would you make your program worse, as your competition gets better?

Edit - where the heck is blending mode for images?

    • Hampus Svallfors, 1 year ago

Blend mode is next to opacity. It's "Normal" by default.

Edit: I also had trouble finding it

That they removed changing text size by dragging is very bad for me.

Remarked some freezing when I click "Option" button to see measurements.

I'd love to hear from someone with a complex (100+ artboards) file if the performance changed in either way. Last time they pushed a big update, every time I duplicated an artboard Sketch froze for like 30 seconds.

      Feels snappy, works for now.

Zooming feels snappier, but it's taking longer to render my artboards when zooming in and out.

Edit* with large files that contain images it appears my statement is correct above but with files that just contains elements everything seems fine.

We've got one Sketch file that has over 120 artboards, most of them are symbols. I had some epic beachballin' before hand - I now have a lot less (still happens on a couple of problematic multi-layered symbols)

i'm liking the dark mode but the canvas being full black hurts with some of my very white documents. right now i'm adding giant grey locked rectangles underneath my artboards as a workaround :X

I will definitely miss the themes in Midnight :( I can't even compare the new dark mode with their custom themes and icons.

Agree. I wish they added an option to change the canvas color at least.

Not a fan of the dark mode. It's hard to read certain things with the contrast being funky. The new UI is welcomed though. Some great additions including the resizing preview animation.

Does this update require using Mojave? We have not updated to Mojave at the office yet.

Last I checked there is no variable font support in Sketch. Has this changed with any recent updates?

Sketch 52 doesn't allow you to double-click on the zoom percentage to zoom to 100%. I didn't realise how often I used this until they removed it.

I usually use Command + 0 to zoom to 100%

I use that a lot too, just didn't realise I used the button as much. Cmd + 1 is another frequently used shortcut.

Yeah I dont like that change either. Hope they bring it back. Small thing though, I'm sure I'll get used to keyboard shortcuts or using the little menu when you click in the middle.

I use this one as much as as Cmd Z. I just hate when I hit Cmd Q accidently. It happens more than it should

I just tried it - You can.

        0 points
    • Hampus Svallfors, 1 year ago

You can. Similar to how you do it with css. Example: "0;5;5;0" (top, right, bottom, left). You can also do it when edit in "vector mode".

So, after some hours of work, I'm confused with icons of Group and Rectangle shape. They are a bit similar. In previous version of Sketch group icon was blue and it was visually different from shapes.

We had an issue where text in symbols was showing up as a bulleted list. Heads up that they moved the list type options from the right sidebar to the Text menu at the top.
