    For my design tool, I used an actual outline (a div) with a typical drop shadow, or a "T" with a typical text shadow, inside a color chip that shows the current color in use for the shadow.

      Thanks, this works but I'd like to avoid using an actual shadow. But rather a glyph icon, just black and white ideally. It's a tough one!

      I think this works for a pair of opposing icons, but I don't think it would be obvious this was a shadow icon if one of them sat by itself. thanks for posting though..
