I don't think it's some kind of A/B test. I bet this is set to returning user, the main page was meant to inform the user of their new brand, thus the conversation rate might have dropped or the design wasn't efficient enough for returning user to log in, so they have this "back" up design where the focus is on the login. Thats just my two cent :)

I signed my wife up for Dropbox 2 weeks ago and had to double check the URL because I thought I was on the wrong landing page.
