Changing symbol preview by changing background color of frame is a great idea.
The organization of the left pane with three tabs, between layers, components, and team libraries is great!!!
Particularly the components one. Makes it really easy to manage components within your document when you aren't ready to leverage the team libraries part (this could be one off components, or components in progress that you aren't ready to push), and gives you dozens of possibilities for how you intend to organize your Figma documents (frames/groups/categorization).
This definitely scratched the itch I had to have a dedicated way of accessing my components like I did with the Symbols page in Sketch!
does Figma have global/brand color support yet? Where you have colors as variables and/or update one place and it updates for all instances (even within components)
So glad they went away from the "floating" window for the UI. Biggest complaint about the system by far.
I love the "categorizing" feature. I created a naming system for my symbols but this will make it much easier for someone else to pick up my library and run with it.
We've been using this for months now with our team at Gusto and it's fantastic. Super useful and saves our team so much time. Looking forward to what's next!
