How to open a newer Sketch document with an older version of Sketch (twitter.com)

Make sure you duplicate the document first. I take no responsibility for stuff breaking.
Though, if you can't open a file because of arbitrary versioning, you still can't open the file.
Doesn't work for me.
I'm trying to convert a 42+ Sketch file created on the required El Capitan+ OS, to an earlier 41.2 Sketch file that only requires 10.10 Yosemite OS with no luck.
Did you make sure you just ZIP the files, and not the enclosing folder? What error are you seeing?
Was that prior to the JSON file format?
Yes, I'm only zipping the files. The error reads: 'The document “test.sketch” could not be opened.' I think they switched to json on version 43.
Yep, they did. And sorry, that means this trick won’t work for earlier versions.
