It's no wonder Dann Petty can tell people to stop working and focus on family when he's charging 70 people $3000 a go (I get there are overheads to organise such a thing but you see my point)

I'm pretty sure he's not getting rich off Epicurrence. I'm willing to bet you get at least $2000 worth of stuff in accommodation/activities/food/goodies alone, without even factoring in the actual event and talks.

I did recognise there would be overheads and sure he may not be getting rich but he's taking in close to a quarter of a million dollars to run this

He's said before that he loses money on these. Somehow.

Could be true if he considers the time spent on Epicurrence as unpaid and losing out on potential client work as a result.

My internet connection is 340mbps and this site load is still terrible, and jagged.

Love the site, but took a ridiculous amount of time to load.

Relax and enjoy the content and design if you can and please stop talking about the load time, it's 2017, some people actually prefer slower transitions and similar fx. DN stands for DESIGN News not for Developer Nonsense.

      Good performance is good design

The road towards better performance doesn’t start with developers or technology stacks. It begins with a shared interest on everyone’s part in making a product that’s lightning fast...

An excerpt from Performance as Design by Brad Frost

Just an opinion: Performance is not Developer Nonsense, is good DESIGN. It's ok if you like overbloated fx, but there is room to have both: a great site with cool fx that runs fast, in the end all of this is part of the experience you build. :)

Yes that's true. To be honest, I do not like over-bloated fx and I'm not a fan of this design, but hey it's decent.

Anyway, that was not the point. I'm talking characters without credibility (or good portfolio), and they are a majority here. I mean, look at these comments, look at this shallow negativity, it's all over DN.
