      They've actually been watching closely from the first announcement (pre-kickstarter), and it's safe to say they're not sending any congratulations.

      They're not directly competing at this point, but the buzz still clearly affects them. The real competitor is not the app, it's the evolving paradigm...

      It's like a new kid on the block rocking fresh neon Rollerblades, busting 360s in front of you as you inch along wearing these: http://goo.gl/SmfZ2A. Also, his potential to develop sweet moves and greater speed is not restricted because he has pads and can swap individual wheels and/or bearings in seconds.

      But then again, they just bought Cloudup.

      Edit: To clarify, Cloudup's roster includes the genius behind Express, Jade, Stylus, Luna, etc.

    It just looks like an open-source, but crowd-funded, ripoff of medium to me?

      Open source is a massive massive difference. And there are huge numbers of ways that it's very different from medium. In fact the only similarities are that it's a blogging system with a markdown composer.
