The animated emojis are fun but the website took over a minute to load for me - over 13.4MB of assets to load D:
A tiny bit of that could be shaved off by optimising the images. I tried sticking them all in ImageOptim and saved 728KB.
Using animated SVGs instead of GIFs would shave off a lot more. GSAP or Snap.svg would help.

I think the website is boring, but your work is super inspiring and awesome!
I feel this is kind of like telling an amazing photographer his work really moves and inspires you, but the bathroom in the gallery smells like Windex.
I am not sure if that's a correct analogy.
It's more like going to a whine tasting session on a vineyard. But instead of drinking that fantastic, fragrant and tasty wine from the proper wine glasses, you drink them out of a aluminium bucked that leaves a metallic aftertaste and distorts the quality of the wine.
But thinking of your analogy more, maybe this it is correct after all. You put all that effort in your photographs and you don't bother to choose the right venue to present your work at?
I am not sure what the story of the website is, but it feels strange looking at it, consuming the work of the portfolio and seeing a rich, creative body of work, but the website itself isn't even vanilla enough to say "it's supposed to put the work on display, not the website itself".
I am not trying to shame anyone here, I am not saying that it's bad. I think there is lost potential here. Not because its badly executed; I think, not a ton of thought was put into the concept of the site after all. I am exactly the same. Which is the reason for why my personal website is shit too. I have difficulties putting a cohesive concept together for my personal brand, while I don't have any issues doing it for other people or organisations.

I guess in the end, you have to ask yourself ... does it even matter? The goal of a portfolio is to showcase work to potential clients or employers. Those people hire based on the content/work itself. If you loved her work and you needed someone on your team with that kind of stuff, would you reject her simply because her portfolio structure was boring?
I'm in the minority, but that's why I like template sites and how some designers simply use Dribbble. It puts more focus on the work they do without distraction.
For example, you called the site boring, but I feel it's almost too chaotic. It's our own, totally valid opinions. Either way, love it or hate it, it succeeded 100%... the attention it's gotten is priceless. Sometimes standing out a little is worth a TON in a very crowded industry.

see, that is the sad part. Is it not about executing the craft well. Its about getting attention. I am not implying that this was the intention here, because it wasn't. But it is for a lot of people. Which is the reason for why they just apply the current trends.... but that's a very different story. Press L for liking my blue triangles, green circles and pink swirls.
In any way, I am super passionate for talented people. I am and have always been more interested in helping other people to get themselves out there, instead of seeking attention for my own work. And this talent got a lot of exposure. So this is great anyway.
But it is not how I personally do things, it is not how I work and it is also not how I teach. The result is not the most important thing, how you get there and why you actually go there is important to. But I see my job more as a craft, not as a very contemporary way to get attention, even though I would be more successful if I did.
Anyway, I get carried away. I said it twice and I'll gladly say it again. The work that is on display is fantastic and does stand out from similar work in quality and in creativity. I would have liked to say something similar about the way it is presented.

I think that as a designer becomes more "successful" there comes a crossroads (or maybe it becomes more apparent) where you start to realize that some work out there is more organic and has a very curated/crafted "life". Soup-to-nuts it's a cohesive story and experience. I love that stuff. This is the kind of stuff that only gets noticed and praised organically - or through an influencer. The other side is having great work, but taking a more branded/advertising approach to it all. As much as we hate to admit it, this is how most of our industry has turned.
In the end, it's about clickbait. Perfect Dribbble shots to get that click. A crazy title and thumb on YouTube to get that view. The way most people see and digest content now is rapid-fire and overwhelming.
I don't think there is anything wrong with trying to stand out a bit and be an individual. Especially in her case. The intent wasn't malicious at all, it was a unique expression of who she is.
