Hello designers, a year has past since I built uideo.net and I’m on designer’s side projects road again with a simple visual inspiration bookmark tool. Designbase.us helps you to collect and store visual inspiration within your Dropbox folder. I think the most interesting part of this is my code struggles which I described in “Designer’s code story”. Feel free to ask me anything and it would be a pleasure to hear from you guys - which features do you miss the most in such a tool?
I'm following the same workflow but MANUALLY, wow this is a time saver. Thank you, Andrei :D
I'm tempted to give it a shot as it means one language across the backend and frontend. But I wonder if learning a traditional stack with vanilla JS might be a better bet to start with. Any advice?
Also, just a slightly different P.O.V to your build ASAP philosophy. Not saying this is wrong and I fully agree having a target and learning while doing is great, but, I've found taking a more structured approach to learning JS really helpful and I can see I would have missed a lot of things if I'd just dived straight in.
Good luck going forward!
Having spent every night after work for the last month deep in the JS hole, I really enjoyed this. Thanks for sharing.
I totally understand how difficult it is. Try to connect your JS learning and work. For example, to code an interactive prototype or make JS animations on your own. Good luck!
Great and insightful read. Nice one!
Really enjoyed this mate, great work
Thank you Andrei for sharing with us!
Can you recommend some course or tutorial about RoR/Meteor/JS you like?
Designbase looks like a nice tool. Might give that a try in the future.
Do check your copy (or ask somebody else to do this). I see a few spelling errors like 'perfomance' and 'coasts' instead of 'costs'. Nothing big but some people might trip over it.
Oh, my bad, thanks for catching that. Actually, I send it to proofreading yesterday, but right before the start I decided that copy wasn't good enough and made some "improvements" and here we are ;)
