I'm considering building my new portfolio site with Vue JS. I come from a Wordpress background, and am well versed in doing SEO on WP and static sites.
How would SEO in a VueJs / React / Angular app compare? My concerns are that it wouldn't be as effective as a standard site? I'd want to optimise but the homepage and subpages. Cheers.

Server side rendering is what you want. Then it would be the same as creating a regular HTML site and optimizing content for SEO. Plus you can do a lot more since these frameworks are fairly powerful. I can't speak for the other frameworks, but NextJS is pretty awesome for SSR React Apps. It gets you up and running fairly quick with SSR baked into it.
You could use the Nuxt.js framework for Vue, which comes baked in with SSR. Also you can run nuxt generate and it will generate a static site.
Build on Vue with server-side rendering and you won't have any issue :)
As long as you don't make a single-page app that sends the same JS runtime for any URL, it makes no difference to Google whether the site runs Wordpress or Vue or if it's static files hosted on a potato in your cupboard.

I use the free tier of https://prerender.io/ to pre-render an AngularJS site http://pppulp.com -- Haven't had any issues so far and it was really easy to set up and keeps itself up to date.
I use Vue for almost all of my app development projects, so never really looked at the SEO side of things. It sounds like server side rendering with Vue could help with that:

Aside from SEO, it's just a really fun library to work with. Like React, but feels simpler if your coming from the html and css side of things. The idea of custom components is quiet powerful for expression and removing duplicate code. Be sure to check out their CLI for starting projects, it will get you going in the best practice direction from start.
Thanks. My only concern is that it won't match the SEO performance of a static/WP site, which would prevent me from using it.
