Sketch App: Text Elements

4 years ago from , Art Director at Creative Recreation

I'm trying to understand why these text elements aren't vertically aligned within their frame. I keep creating one line of text, and I try to align it correctly to my other elements on the page, however I feel like it's not very accurate as it leaves something on top of it. I've tried with different line height settings however it's practically impossible to get this right.

Here's a some screenshots explaining my issue: https://creativerec.box.com/s/ph7ldf1v11vpqdr9hq5ffsc7m1l01tps

Every font has its quirks. That's all it is from what I can see.

I think what you’re seeing is the normal font metrics and how they relate to the bounding box of the text element. It happens in all tools and on the web. (Unless I’m misunderstanding your question?)

If you working with very specific text elements (i.e. won't change), try converting it into an outline. Not ideal, but could help with alignment.

Thanks Jonathan, I know you can do that, however I want my layouts to be editable once review is done. So making them into outlines isn't a smart option. I really do not understand how this should be right from the get go. Or maybe there's setting I don't understand.
