Is there something like a estimate designer?

over 3 years ago from , Independent Mouse Chauffeur

I need a tool (better than Numbers or excel) to create estimate templates for some clients. My ideal tool would be something like sketch + craft (I'm making an emphasis on "like") that can take data form somewhere (a text file or a plain spreadsheet) and populate certain design with the values of said source. That way I can give the customer a simple file to edit that would impact on the design file.

Stuff I could use it for: - Restaurant menus (prices change in my country very often because of inflation) - Service prices for a wedding planner - tech rider for a band show with custom logos and colors

Do you guys know of anything similar?

Thanks in advance.

A convoluted workaround could be using the Sketch Data Populator plugin with JSON data pulled from Google Sheets that is populated by a Google Form. It would allow you to send a Form (or send them the Sheet directly) to a client and then use their responses directly in Sketch.

Hey Ben- love that you're a fan of Craft and you could certainly do this with some JSON stuff. Folks at Brandfolder are promising a concept called 'templating' that uses InDesign to do something similar to what you describe here: http://info.brandfolder.com/templating/?utm_source=launch-blog Might be worth checking out. :)

I think you might be able to a achieve this with this json files and Sketch like others have mentioned. You could combine it with a plugin that auto resizes based on content.

What is your desired output? PDF? Web page? Images?

I'm working on something that might suit your needs but it's not ready yet. I'd be interested in hearing more about your use case.

The Invision Craft plugin has several options to work with data, including APIs and stuff
