Hey everyone, we quietly launched our first app earlier this week. It's called ooo, and it lets people of all ages make mini music videos. This is the first product where we've done everything internally: idea, name, identity, interface, development, and even all the music. The team here is super excited to have it ready and we wanted to share it with Designer News. This is a super early version, so definitely let us know what you like and what you hate. Have fun!

As an avid zoom-video maker, I was really happy to see this. Downloaded it the other day and really enjoying it so far. Y'all did a great job. The music UI is a little wonky (and sucks to have to pick it upfront), but overall the clever ways you allow for taking the video are really nice.

Awesome! We are actually in the process of redesigning the music system right now. Right now it only lets you skip and shuffle, but the next version will be more of a menu that lets us drop in a lot more music.

Damn this is so genius! Can't wait to test it out in the wild.

A music preview would be nice (maybe long pressing the title or with a button to play/pause, or just play a couple secs and fade out as you change them) and both icons left and right moving forward on the music picker is confusing, was expecting the icon on the left would chose the previous song.

Also, when swiping left/right, the circle to indicate the zoom is not really useful, why you guys are not showing a preview of how the zoom level will be?

Logo reminds me of Palantir. Definitely like the minimalist layout!

Considering our company's name comes from View Zoom (so vuzum) I'll add my thoughts. Can you in turn share some about the process of creating the app? Tools you used, process, designed at, timeframe from decision to make it to deployment and approval, tips and tricks, etc, etc. I think this stuff will help the community. :-)

Some things I think I would improve are: a) the interface that asks for permissions - it feels like friction to ask 3 permissions when you first sign-in the app. It can be on a single screen or delayed further.

    b) it's not clear what the progress bar / number at the bottom does

    c) the music library is very short. It could be larger and a different way to see more items at once would, in that case, be useful

Overall it's a new kind of interaction that I have not seen explored and I hope it will catch on!
