Zeplin vs Sympli vs Avocode

I was wondering if anyone knows the differences between those 3 options to handle specs to the developer.

So far I've been using Sketch + Zeplin but I'm not satisfied with it (lack of features and some bugs.)

We are using none of them because this tools get messy if you upload more than 20 artboards. Artboards will be displayed in no order. Our developer could find the right artboard that he have to work on. We use this plugin for sketch: https://github.com/utom/sketch-measure Our developers wrote down a script that pushes our sketch file from owncloud through this plugin an loads it up to our dev board. So herefore we don't need any of this plugins. We struce our pages and artboards like before and it works charmingly.

      Jan-

In Sympli you can order the art boards as you see fit via our web app. You can also use labels to add comments to art boards and objects to assist developers. We are also adding new productivity features that should be out in the next week or so that will further help in organizing and communicating between designers and developers. Give us a shot and let me know what you think!

We used it for 2 weeks and our development team was going nuts. Search via tags is really uncomfortable. We had more than 250 artboards. And tag them all? So that the developer understands the process of the interface? That was impossible. We will drive our own solution. But i wish you a lot of Luck with the new feature.

Similar case here. Tried Zeplin for a while; but devs wouldn't use it. Switched to Sketch Measure and been using it ever since.

Zeplin has been amazing for me.

Command + Shift + E on an artboard and it's automatically uploaded. You can sort the artboards by name or last updated. Very happy.

I'm biased, but Sympli has a suite of enterprise-grade features that make it the best tool for designer - developer collaboration and hand off. Unlimited collaborators; automated spec generation; automatic asset generation and download; design diff tools; Sketch, Photoshop, Xcode, and Android Studio plugins; integrated brand books and style guides; designer/developer communication, collaboration, and commenting features; and much more. Try it for free at https://sympli.io and let us know what you think!

Does anyone have any feedback about the sketch-file inspector of invision ?

Basically pretty nice, but missing svg exportable assets, for example. But the workflow is quite nice, as you can just upload a selected artboard (or all artboards) to invision, wich will show the screen in the prototype (as usual) but also provide the inspect possibilities as well. If svg isn't necessary, you may give it a try :)

We use Zeplin at Lunar Way.

But we quickly ran into the problem of having to many artboards.

Our workaround is that we place all the artboards into a big one, and upload that instead. Then the developers can see the whole flow and we don't have to arrange the screens in Zeplin.

It's not the perfect solution but it gets the job done :)

I have limited experience with Zeplin or Avocode, but I have been using Sympli with a small team of engineers for about 8 months. In terms of its impact on my efficiency, Sympli has been a game-changer. Tim mentions some of the cool things that Sympli automates above, but here is the biggest thing that's made an impact on my team's efficiency:

    Xcode and Android Studio plugins.

I can upload an artboard from Sketch, and a minute later one of our engineers has that screen up in their development environment where they can inspect it and get all the details and assets they need to build it. I don't have to waste ridiculous amounts of time measuring and spec'ing screens or exporting images before handing off. Avocode and Zeplin may have plugins too (not sure), all I know is the Sympli plugins seem to work well and the engineers have welcomed it into their workflow.

It's a great feeling to be able to upload a screen and move on to the next one quickly.

I've been using Zeplin with my team for almost 2 years and love it. We've tried everything out there and keep coming back to Zeplin. It's just the best.

It wasn't so long ago we were producing implementation guides for mocks in InDesign as 80+ page booklets. Despite its bugs, Zeplin is 1000X better than that workflow. It may not be perfect, but us old timers appreciate the time savings.

We've been using Zeplin for almost 2 years now and it's definitely a great workflow improvement, for design, dev and product people as well. It still has it's flaws, but they're pushing feature pretty often.

Anyway, Sympli is quite interesting as well, but didn't make me switch for current projects.

Avacode works for web only, afaik, which is a knock-out criteria for me.

I think my gripe with Zeplin is the pricing. We maxed out the 12-project cap just because our team want to segregate logical screens into each "project".

We have been using Zeplin for more than 2 years. It is a good fit to our design to development process. Recently we started using Zeplin 'Power up' in Trello which has reduced unnecessary file uploads.

We were giving it a try to Sympli for a project mainly for integrated Xcode & Android Studio plugins. But it is not pushing us to switch over due to price. We see this as a similarly featured app like Zeplin but without shiny desktop app.

Avocode seems good in terms of exporting iOS, Android & Web assets from a single project. But again it had a downside of not having PDF export which is important for iOS. And also the price didn't fit to our need.
