Wow! They animated some Brendan Monroe artwork. http://brendanmonroe.tumblr.com/

This is probably one of my favourite studio / agency websites. I feel that the excellent use of clean, flowing animations gives a sense of their attitude towards design - from looking through the website I can sort of understand how much they care about getting the finer details absolutely right.

    These guys are amazing.

The Outline had animated wavy lines, and this website does too... is this becoming a thing?

It's a beautiful site! I just wish the fans in my mac wouldn't spin up immediately whenever I visit a site like this (maxed Macbook 15" 2015). There's hope 2017 will be the year where people care more about performance.

Are you suggesting that no one currently cares about performance? I'm on a 2011 macbook air, and this site was no trouble at all.. No fans are spinning, nothing..

Plenty of designers and developers currently care about performance. It's just that there also happens to be many designers (and devs!) who aren't willing to compromise their vision of some super galactic inspirational cream-dream of a site..

As far as impressively animated sites go - this one doesn't feel bad on my end

I think about this too. But i forget that while some sites make my fans spin like it's about to take off (considering our laptops are basically supercomputers nowadays), I forget that at the same time I have multiple terminal processes running, sketch running, code software running, and a dozen tabs open. I think it is nice that people continuously push web technologies and trying to achieve that balance between performant and sweet. This probably gives birth to new techniques, combinations of things, new browser engines etc, what have you. It makes me enthusiastic and optimistic of what the web still can offer and that we're not bound to looking at a homogenous pool of templates.
