    It looks shiny, but from a data visualization perspective, all that gloss and glow is a detriment.

      Point taken. This was more about the CSS itself (which is easily changed to whatever flavour is appropriate).

      Sometimes in a scatter plot you will want some hazing (glow) to get a "heat map" effect. If its faster to grok the insights to be gained from the results, its not detrimental.

      Its like any tool in the toolbox. Sometimes you need a wrench. Other times you need a screwdriver.
