Canadian designers working in the US under TN visa?

over 4 years ago from , Designer at Coinbase

I'm a Canadian who is going to work for a small agency in SF as a designer (UX + UI). My employer and I are putting together my application and I'd love to hear if anyone has gone through a similar process, especially if you don't have a lot of prior design experience or education.

I'm afraid there aren't really any "tricks". Do you have a relevant degree or nothing at all? Other than that: try to get as many recommendation letters from past employers/clients as possible. You can be a little creative with those.

I have a decently large body of work that I was banking on showing. But will definitely get letters from clients. Thanks! Anything else that could strengthen my file? I've heard of perfectly qualified engineering friends getting turned back. Just want to bulletproof my case :P

Hi Yitong, I’m currently in the similar situation as you. I’m wondering how did you get it done in the end. Do you find any lawyer to help you. Because I know UX/UI designer is not on TN professional list, what professional did you apply for?
