If Apple is really working on a car, I'd like to have: - some kind of proximity sensor, so the car unlocks and locks its door when I'm near (or out of range) - or you'll just slide to unlock ;) - dock for wireless charging / syncing / media player - integrated wireless AP - security feature: when it's "paired" with your phone, you can't steal it because it's main onboard computer is your phone (somehow connected with your fingerprint id stored in your phone:) - ...
I want the experience to be so good, I don't think about its features until I use another car that doesn't have it.
Substitute car for any other product – that's the UX mantra.
If they were, they stopped to https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-10-17/how-apple-scaled-back-its-titanic-plan-to-take-on-detroit But if they still would be, I'd expect the best quality of materials and execution. Also, I'd expect that its car wouldn't necessarily be a personal car but a shared one, so it would be more about efficiency than just another car on the road. I really enjoyed recent IDEO case study about the future of mobility, check that out if you haven't yet.
I think this is what you were referring to: http://automobility.ideo.com/
Really is an awesome look what the next few years will be like.
The thinnest car ever made.
A faster horse.
You cannot slide to unlock anymore. You will just press the home button now. :)
If it's autonomous, it's not a car, it's a mobile room. And in my mobile room I would like a bed for taking naps.
I'd like them to follow the same strategy they've taken with their laptops. So, in the same way the Macbook now has a solitary port, I'd like the car to have just one door. I mean, let's face it, who really needs more than one door, it's just unnecessary and ruins the form factor.
- Be a Tesla
- Be cheaper than a Tesla
- 200km from 30m charge via USB on my Macbook Pro
Serious answer: Absolutely do not trust Apple's software with my life, wouldn't consider buying a car from them.
And now to answer your question. First. I'll admit I ordered a model 3 and I can't wait for the next 2 hours to pass to see what they announce for the interior. I hope this is the announcement Tesla does. :-)
So Apple's car has this super awesome company competing with, who's goal is to bring every player to the electric world, and I hope they make it. So it means it will be a future of multiple contenders for our garages, with a purchase every 5-10 years or so. This means I wouldn't be purchasing an Apple Car, but if I were interested, it should have:
- A similar performance quality to what Tesla has on the car hardware side (speed, excellent car handling, safety)
- Better battery :) and free charging - they cannot compete with this I think
- Obviously an amazing design with a similar visual style to what we're expecting from Apple.
- Beautiful OS inside, opened up to the App Store and synched with all apple devices and services we already use (Tesla cannot compete here)
Do you have a link to the Tesla event? I have also ordered a Model 3. I'm excited to see if or what Apple release in the space, but I'm also excited about the Model 3.
It will be on TechCrunch, they just posted about it.
Awesome! Thank you. :)
I am pretty sure it won't have windows ;)
I read that this car thing is being dropped. Now they're more into partnering with existing carmakers source
