Microsoft jumping on the SJW bandwagon I see. "When it comes to people there is no such thing as 'normal'"...ummm. Generation snowflake strikes again.

Sorry to say, but Windows phone had (has??) one of the best design languages out there. It's still one of my favorites. Too bad their marketing department sucks so bad, it could have been a great alternative to Android/Apple...

I had a windows phone back in the day and I agree with you. I loved the design language. Super simple, easy to use and beautiful. The main limitation I found was that the app selection was incredibly slim. Don't think they even had an Instagram app at that point.

Yeah I agree. A lot of what is on Android and iOS now in terms of integration was on Windows Phone 3 years ago.

It's not only the design language of the OS (which i disagree with you, I think Apple's is way better.), it's also building the basis for people to design beautiful apps that will feel native. When I tried designing an app for the windows phone, I felt like my only choice was to use this 30% height of the screen navigation, ugly white icons in a circle functions, and I didn't have space for creativity at all. example (taken from google): windows phone app

Good on Microsoft! If you deny access to certain groups and individuals you close yourself off to potential markets and opportunities that were once impossible with legacy technologies.

It's a shame the line drawings and icons aren't SVGs
