DN, Help us (EFF, Free Press, Fight for the Future, Mozilla) redesign StopWatching.us

almost 7 years ago from , Designing for Activism

tl'dr: We're a group of activists that need help designing a new new site and logo for http://stopwatching.us to rally people for a protest in DC against surveillance.

DN, I'm part of a coalition of public advocacy groups and organizers behind StopWatching.us, a coalition of groups that the Atlantic called "perhaps the most diverse collection of groups in the modern history of American politics.”

We banded together in opposition to NSA surveillance, and over 500,00 people have signed our petition to Congress.

As a followup to our coalition site and petition, we're planning a march against surveillance on the October 26th, the anniversary of the Patriot Act. We're hoping to draw thousands, which would make it the biggest single protest against surveillance yet.

I'm in charge of launching the new website, and though we over a hundred developers who've volunteered to help build the site, we don't have enough designers. Not only does the organization need a new logo, we also need a beautiful landing page for the site. We're hoping to get it launched next week.

So, finally my ask: if you have some time free in the next few days to help us with design, we'd love your help.

Just leave your email address in the comments and I'll be in touch, or ping me on Twitter (I'm @sinak).

I'm a bit sad that my first post is a request like this, but I've actually been lurking on DN for a while, and am pretty excited to finally have an account (thanks Brandon!).

Also, while I'll probably just pick one person to design the site itself (so as to avoid design by committee), there's room for as many people as are interested to have a shot at the logo side of things.
