Love this! I tried tweeting but it doesn't show the image so the context is lost. Might want to look into that.
Good shout, didn't think about that - will get that right on that ✌
Love this, would love it more if there were more actual puns.
Haha, thanks man. If you've got any suggestions, don't be afraid to send 'em over!
Nice idea! :D
Cracking idea. Would be great to vote for the best puns.. as well as a submit option.
Cheers Trevor! I'll put those on the to-do list!
This is brylcreem.
It's a good thing, sometimes I forget my lingo is not known to all.
Haha - this is awesome. Great job, guys! Would be awesome if I could get a new one on 'space' key.. for mindless navigation :P
Just a curiosity, do you match them automatically by image tags, or they are manually created?
Thanks Vlad! Great question; it's all pre-rendered prior. I built a script that grabs the first noun from a pun, searches and returns the first image from Unsplash and then groups it together in a clientside JSON file. I think if I wasn't using an outrageous amount of AWS instances, I'd have done that server-side; but I decided to serve all the puns up through the client instead.
First noun, it makes sense now. Some don't match, I think you saw that too. But I'm sure you made it just for fun. Although, I see the opposite pattern in these puns. It seems like the last noun is the core one. You should try it locally and visually check if the results are better. I would love to see a better version of this. Thank you for your answer :)
Really fun idea! One suggestion: Maybe make the "Another pun" button a little more conspicuous? For example, you could increase the padding around it so the clickable area is larger?
