Chris Wright, over 6 years ago Bluetooth audio latency makes wireless headphones completely unusable for electronic music production. Plenty of musicians and producers use the built-in headphone jack in transit when they don't have a dedicated audio interface for pre/post-production, so I really think removing the headphone jack will alienate the entire Ableton/Logic/Pro Tools community.

Let's make displays wireless, because plugging in a monitor (or two) everyday is the real issue.

Luca Candela, over 6 years ago They should make the "pro" really a pro by supporting a real docking station. I would buy the laptop and 2 docking stations in a heartbeat if it had a connector similar to the one on the ipad pro.

Does it matter? They're going to remove it regardless.
I was totally ok when they remove it on iPhone because they bundle with earpods with lighting connector. But with no headphone jack, no lighting port, what should people use on Macbook Pro?? Only wireless?

I can maybe understand the reasoning for removing the headphone jack in a smartphone, where space for components really is limited, but in a 13" or 15" laptop...? Do they really need the physical space that badly that they'd take away a port that is so important to many people?

According to apple and apple tech press it isn't important to people because everyone "just uses the supplied headphones" (not true)
Once you use that logic then it makes more sense to put a lightning port on the laptops too instead of a jack.
Is it usual for Apple to survey users like this? I never heard of it before.

I had the same thought. I don't recall this happening, or at least not widely reported when it has.
It goes to show how mature the PC market is.
