This reminds me of my student project 1-Bit Mac OS X I made last semester. But this is very nice! I really like the old school Win95 look!

Your project is awesome! Congrats! Did you use AE for that? What kind of effect/plugin did you use for the cars' video?

That effect can be done in Photoshop with either indexed color or bitmap, depending on the pattern that you want (both in Image > Mode >).

If you can't get to bitmap, convert the image to black & white first. And if you choose indexed color, use 3 colors, black and white, pattern dither.

There is an AE plugin for this, Google for Ordered Dither.

Thanks! :) I actually did this everything in Photoshop, because of the basic animations. But this was kind of a mess to do. So I would not recommend to do it in Ps for bigger scale. As louie solomon mentioned this effect can also be done in photoshop. I converted the video into single frames and converted every frame into bitmap, by hand. The interfaces are also drawn by hand. ;)
