Microsoft redesigns the iPod Packaging (2006) (youtube.com)

This shows how much Microsoft changed in one decade... Also shows how little did Apple change. Not that either is good or bad. Just interesting.
For me it's the complete opposite. Microsoft still bloats everything, including their packaging, and Apple has changed drastically from that iPod to today.
What packaging in particular are you talking about?
This was what MS was doing last time I checked
Yes the Windows packaging looks alright in that example. I, however, was thinking about their other products, like the Office range, and also ridiculous stuff like etching 'Windows 10' into their tablets.
Can you post some examples, I'm not seeing the etching
Don't have one myself, my former boss had a Surface and it had 'Windows 10' etched into the back of the device.
My Pro 3 does have this, but it's under the kickstand along with any other legally required logos.
The more recent surfaces have even less info under there.
under the kickstand along with any other legally required logos
How is 'Windows 10' a legally required logo? Where are all these legally required logos on an iPad?
Apple has actually got them in system preferences. Think they pushed hard to keep their devices clean & clear.
The MS Office packaging doesn't seem cluttered to me either
I thought it was an interesting little time capsule. I completely forgot how I felt about Microsoft/Apple back in those days. It was a totally different vibe. Really difficult to contextualise when so much has happened since.
In packaging, they improved the size of the boxes, making them more environment friendly. But, in terms of product lines, can someone explain me ?
Macs?
Apple changed a lot, and not in a good way, I mean in a bad way.
Best part was an internal Microsoft team created this.
3 years later they made the Zune HD

And they have changed a lot in the past decade...
Title changed!
I remember getting a good laugh out of this when it first did the rounds 10 years ago. It's great to see how much Microsoft have improved since then. Proof that behemoths can change their ways.
Hahahah, I remember this! My buddy had that original iPod too!
Right. This will now make the rounds over email to our marketing/director groups :]
Cheers, awesome.
Oldie but goodie!
A classic.
full on headache guaranteed
Haha this is awesome, and pretty much representative of any corporate design feedback.
Was totally expecting a Zune Vid - their actual redesign of an iPad - and dons flameproof vest it was GOOD. The Zune player is still better than itunes. RIP.
