Hi all! I'm the person who makes these teardowns. If you have any questions or comments, I will be checking here for a while. Shoot!
Loved it! Very nice work.
Thank you, Cooper!
I honestly look forward to these so much, keep it up man!
That is awesome to hear, Dan. :)
You're great. That is all. Thumbs up.
Right back at ya, Louis.
How do you put those frames on your photos when they overlay the screen (Like the jay-z pics)? I might be doing something similar in a presentation
Probably with Keynote!?
Here is probably more than you'd like to know! http://webdesign.tutsplus.com/articles/creating-useronboard-teardowns-my-process-and-tools--cms-23232
Have you ever thought of doing the teardowns Live, Samuel? Like Twitch creative or Periscope? Would be interesting to have them as Q&A sessions.
Oh, interesting idea! That could be a lot of fun
"Why tell instead of show, wouldn't it make sense for people to hear the difference"
The problem there is that not a single person on earth can hear the difference between a lossless audio file and a well-encoded 320kbps mp3, as proven by numerous blind tests (and by the fact that the human ear can't hear the frequencies being cut out of the spectrum to allow for compression).
In other words, Tidal would have to make a pretty crappy compression to compare against in order for everyone to be convinced lossless would benefit them...and by that stage it's essentially false advertising as neither Apple nor Spotify make crappy compressions.
The only reason you would hear a difference between the same track on Tidal vs Spotify vs iTunes would be if one of these platforms are adding a subtle EQ adjustment, which they obviously shouldn't.
It honestly hadn't occurred to me that their value prop wouldn't have actually been valuable. This is v interesting!
But his point is still very valid. It was also meant in a broader way I felt, too.
Every slide is just copy with meaningless words to average user. If you're going to use jargon, at least have a visual cue as to what you mean.
Maybe rather than examples, a neat illustration to show how much more sound you'd get or something? Like a waveform graphic... ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Waveform graphic would definitely have been very effective, as the visual difference would have been huge.
Tidal, guys, I'm available!
Actually, on second thoughts.. It's definitely a sinking ship.
I like this idea!
Good teardown, Samuel. I don't agree with the 'hear the difference' part like another user was pointing out but the rest was on-point. Keep them coming!
Expected a Crappy UX... Wasn't disappointed.
I aim to please, Juan!
These are awesome, thank you!
You're very welcome.
I especially enjoy the widowed "tracks" on slide 5. Really nice attention to detail.
Are you referring to slide 5 in the slideshow, or in a workflow?
You mean the word "tracks" alone in its own line right? Yeah, not good.
@Joe-C Thank you for sharing! I'm touched
