This site is so nice it made me a bit angry
I stay awake at night trying to work out how they did the animations...
It’s visually pleasing but not sure about the usability.
Come on dude.
Not frontin, solid concern.
What exactly do you mean? It's a simple site with about 6 pages, a clearly defined navigation and no content hidden away behind anything.
Be curious to know what sort of usability issues it has.
First of all, try to navigate through screen reader.
A web studio with such focus on visual appeal could squeeze remaining 5% and implement that too. Not semantic nav button, has no tab-index nor it’s a native focus element.
Second, it does scroll jack content on subpages. I’d prefer more content and less shenanigans on sub pages.
Third, I cannot go to another route unless animation is finished. Clicks are prevented.
To you and Russ Brown, this website is visually appealing without any doubt. If it’s main goal is to impress clients, it surely can. However, if all it takes to impress this community is some SVG animation, I should reconsider writing comments like this.
Ok mate.
Given its a creative web studio, I think its safe to say its sole aim is to impress clients. Clients tend to not be as impressed with talk of semantic html as they do absolutely beautiful animations. Thats not to say those things aren't important but for a studio selling their services to 'normals' its a smart move.
Putting all that aside, lighten up! Everything is not a usability study. taking snide shots at commenters who are appreciating someones work, is that really you?
What are you talking about?
taking snide shots at commenters
Just because you take personal offense to someone disagreeing with your opinion doesn't mean they are taking snide shots at you. If anyone needs to lighten up, it's you.
I didn't take any offence at anyone, nor did I ever really share an opinion, I was talking about this comment:
"However, if all it takes to impress this community is some SVG animation, I should reconsider writing comments like this."
all good?
After Effects meets HTML. <3
Those animations are lickable!
I let out an audible "hell yeah!". I cant think of any other site that has made me do that, so you got that going for you.
Well shit, I'm impressed.
All the animations were super smooth on my phone, very impressive.
Dang, those animations
Bastien, are you the developer behind this unique craft?
Nope! :D
Here is a quick deconstruction of the site if anyone is interested.
Waaark.com website deconstruction
Most of the effects are created in After Effects and exported to SVG/JS animations. Some of the animations are hand-coded using GreenSock.
I'd hire 'em.
This is visually stunning. It's like an experience.
What a brilliantly put together site, so much great animation in there. Must of seen some serous man hours to get this done!
That process section gave me goosebumps.
Feels like a modern day 2advanced Studios (which I loved back in the day).
Fucking amazing. Top to bottom.
Wow. I wonder how long this took to develop.
Damn son, site is nice!
great job.
Oh my. That is beautiful.
