James Young, over 7 years ago They're really pushing the boundaries of what's possible over at Twitter aren't they.
Meanwhile people still get harassed, there's apparently no way to get a dormant user name unless you know someone at Twitter and spambots roam the timeline unhindered.
Bravo.

Totally feel your pain on the account squatting, a someone who has wanted a dormant account using my name... Ugh. The account hasn't even been active since 2007... Nine years ago...

Not counting media attachments against the character limit is great. Being able to see all tweets beginning with @names (that aren't initiated via a Reply button) has the potential to be awful.

wonder how they'll stop spambots from @mentioning 1,000s of users at a time.

BuzzFeed reported that they're limiting mentions to 50 accounts. The spambots will still love that.

I can't think of a single use-case when one would have to @ 50 individuals.

I'm pretty happy about this. Good on the twitter team for upgrading the experience of the platform without changing it drastically.
