I can't put my finger on why exactly, but I really want to attend this one.

Unfortunately, I can't justify 3K (not including airfare).

With a 7yo and a 6mo, there comes a time in life where even badass non-conferences like this are non-starters because that kind of coin has other priorities first. It's frustrating for the designer side of me, but the force is strong with the Dad side of me. Part of the struggle of maturing in this industry I guess.

Maybe DN will sponsor me! ;-)

Beautiful site, and I'm really happy that Dann is successful with putting these non-conferences on. I've heard from so many people they're a blast, but agree that the $3k price is steep especially if you don't work at a company that's willing/able to send you.

Custom welcome bags? $3,000 price tag? What is this, a bad seat at one of Hillary Clinton's speeches!?

I'm pretty sure the price is with good circumstances. I have a few friends that went to Epicurrence/Montues (the private, invite only event) and it was of similar price, but folks stayed in incredibly nice accommodations, hence the price.

I live in Moab. "Moab Under Canvas" is very expensive but located in a beautiful spot just north of town with views into the backside of Arches and Canyonlands. Totally worth the price, and likely a large part of the high cost

For those complaining about the price: I went to the Montues (the previous Epicurrence event). Yes, the price tag is steep, but that's only because Dann wants to create amazing experiences. In other words that money goes towards paying for accomodations, perks, swag, etc. and not in Dann's pocket.

I do wish there was an “Epicurrence Lite” event with the same awesome people but maybe less fancy surroundings, and a cheaper price tag to match. But at the same time I can't fault Dann for having a grand vision and trying to make it come true.

To be clear, I actually think the price isn't all that bad. When you break it down per day, with meals, activities, etc... it's actually pretty fair.

My point was more that as you mature in the industry, things like kids, mortgages, summer camps, daycare, etc simply become a priority. As a designer it's a struggle because as much as you want to go, ya simply can't spend that kind of money without a lot more thought than just a few years earlier.

Yes, the price is steep for a networking weekend getaway.

BUT Dann Petty seems to really make it worth your money with his custom welcome bags, not to mention the great people: https://dribbble.com/shots/2596186-The-Montues-Welcome-Packs
