Hey gang, looks like someone beat us to the punch! We've been working on the new thoughtbot.com a long time to better reflect who were are as people and how we work as a company. It's a big step in the right direction and we're still iterating on much of the design and content. Like /product-design-sprint on Thursday morning.
Let us know what you think of the new site!
My. The playbook is pure gold. Thanks so much for sharing this! https://playbook.thoughtbot.com/
You're welcome luke!
Oops, sorry :) I'm a frequent visitor and fan.
As a part of a team that primarily does client services with a desire to do product, I thought the last version of their site was interesting in that it made them appear as though they were a product company and included very little information about their services. This version does just the opposite.
We're really trying to highlight what we can offer to our client in this iteration, in addition to beefing up the design. Our products are still very much a part of thoughtbot, but they should also stand on their own.
Love it. Just an observation that shouldn't be seen as a negative.
Totally. Thank you for the observation/feedback. Very apt too!
Love thoughtbot. The educational resources they put out are
I agree, their educational resources are
Minor copywriting comment: on your home page under the hero in "experience and skills...", you list "UI and UX Design". Those terms are clear to most of the audience here on DN (or maybe not? the difference between the two is a link I see every other week) but to your audience / clients, I'd venture to bet they have no idea. Something like "Interface Design" -- while less specific / accurate -- would probably be much clearer and more easily understood.
First I thought: another bot BS app, huh, then I thought: Oh, it's an app for cars? and then I realized it's a body shop. Very confusing at the beginning.
Really, how so?
See above, but probably combination of smaller viewport and not reading texts.
As with most things they do, this looks smart! Some weird cropping issues on the hero, though: http://i.imgur.com/pYExapP.png
Alec, that should be fixed in the next release :fingers_crossed: This tends to occur at a +1200px width and +1000px height; what screen dimensions was this at do you remember?
It was on my work machine, and I can't replicate at home (already squashed, perhaps?)
