Shame there's a huge barrier to entry - CC account and CC bloatware. Not to mention fail with the name (experience design - really? You can't solve your user's problems by linking a couple of screenshots and making them unpleasantly interactive. What about the other more important elements of user experience design?

Other than that I am happy to see that even ancient companies, that don't normally innovate or try to keep up with the market and technology because they are too big and drag around a lot of design and tech debt, can see that there is a niche market of designers that are craving for a better prototyping and design tool.

What surprises me even more is that you take new approaches to tackle these challenges; however, sadly you're tied by the Adobe constraints 'we must use these ancient frameworks so it's cross platform, we don't care about OS X design patterns, customers need to have Adobe Creative Account, it needs to come with a bloatware CC app and installs just like Windows apps' which essentially makes the product less approachable to potential customers as well as much worse experience for people who are willing to try it.

I just tried to install it but I first had to update Creative cloud. Yuck !

The gating behind Creative Cloud is especially painful for enterprise users. I'm usually allowed to install any evaluation software on my work mac, but I can't install XD because of the way enterprise CC works.

Please just give us a direct download, at least for testing.

As if the tool has any bearing on the final output. I'm going to stick with Axure 8 + Sketch + Atom , not because if this or that, but because Adobe do not deserve my attention after years of charging shit loads and then finally vomiting this utter nonsense!

Frankly, when speaking about tools, most of you omit Axure... and Axure is by far the better and most powerful of the lot. Has absolutely anything one could desire and it's been around for years... Compared to Axure, this is amateurish... End of rant!

It's the year where everyone calls themselves UX designer having learned a new, trendy, hipster software.

I do real UX, for real massive clients and Axure is by far the best of the lot. You can keep on with Invision, XD or other design tools, but please, enlighten me...

Agreed, we use Axure as our wireframing/prototyping tool in my office because we have very large clients with very detailed, heavily interactive internal web applications and nothing comes close to Axure when it comes to showing functional interactions in prototypes. Only downside is a I have to constantly remind clients that it is just a prototype and not a fully functional website because it works so well.

            Thank you, Eric!

Same happens to me, constantly having to remind them that the actual work still needs to be done, and that speaks a lot about the quality of Axure's output.

If you also throw the specifications, it becomes a must tool for real work... dribbblers can keep their framers and zeplins...

I'm so confused by your comment. Axure is probably the most useful prototyping tool available. I could easily do my job with just Axure and Sketch.

Everyone should use the tools that fit their work process. But for me it is much quicker to do low fidelity prototypes in Sketch and Marvel/Invision (+ maybe something like Principle) and then start coding immediately

Agreed that Axure's pretty strong on the functionality front, but I don't want to spend my life working in software I absolutely hate using.

The tool means fuck all if it doesn't cover all my needs. It can be pretty as fuck, but if it doesn't work for me, I'm not going to bother...

I used axure for a couple of projects. Great functionality, but hate not having efficient keyboard shortcuts really was a pain to my workflow. Like do i really have to click and drag everything onto the damn canvas?

Agreed. Axure is too often overlooked. Or course it does have its rough spots but if I could only take one tool into battle Axure would be it.

I quite like XD, but cannot see where it would fit into my workflow. I use omnigraffle and HTML for wireframes and prototypes.

Personally I can't stand the interface of Axure, and most of the output makes me groan. But some people can make it sing.

XD, at the moment anyway, just doesn't offer enough.

In your workflow, I guess it could replace sketch and Atom, but so far it doesn't have the chops.

For me, I guess it could replace Omnigraffle, but again, so far it doesn't have the chops.

Maybe when it is properly released.

I am liking the fast progress Adobe is putting out for XD. Bohemian Coding is going to see some competition now

Maybe if Adobe decides to sell it as a "one off" purchase. It's hard to compete against Sketch $129 price tag! But yeah competition is good!

Maybe Sketch was the best thing to happen to Adobe? Forcing them to innovate

With Fireworks Adobe had the best horse in the staible. But they kill it.

"This build allows you to adjust the line spacing for an area text component using a control in the properties inspector. Many customers gave us the feedback that this was essential for design."

Hm. Fascinating. So Adobe's saying line height is important for design?

Sarcasm aside, I'd suggest rephrasing that, it just sounds silly.

Seeing how sketch will never be on windows, you'd think that they would make this preview available for windows.

What's the future of the prototyping tool? The transitions aren't great. Either push a screen completely up or down. What about status bars, android navigation bars, shared elements, popovers?

For a tool that's trying to sell itself on it's prototyping abilities, it falls very short.

Is there a built in colour picker yet? Or is it still using the rubbish Apple default?

You couuuuld read the linked post, but then again, why not just read the headline and let others do the work for you. Here you go: No, but there will be one soon.

Using the colour picker is still really buggy.

As we mentioned in earlier posts, we have spent a lot of time/energy perfecting the rendering engine and the solid foundation of XD. Now that it's there, you can expect a lot more features landing in our monthly releases.

We are working on a special Color Picker for Adobe XD as we speak. Stay tuned, it will land soon.

A better export and maybe i am in, still on sketch. Some things are still missing. But it gets closer and closer.

Hi Jan, you can expect a lot more improvements for Export. For now, you can export final assets for production as PNG (Web, iOS or Android) or as highly optimized SVG.

Hi Demian, i will give it a shot. the things is my developers all want sketch files because they can export their assets them self or get measurements out of it. Thats one of the main reason why i use sketch. the developer doesn't want to buy a whole creative cloud to get one tiny program.

So, no updates on prototype part.

There are a few, we provide more controls over sharing and also show hotspot hints in the shared prototypes.

In the upcoming releases we will provide scrolling of long artboards and more.

      Stay tuned.

This is why I'm hopeful from Adobe XD. U guys are so responsive and easy to reach. It's really comforting to receive updates from actual people (or generic responses from mods on adobe forums)

This time I can see Adobe is designing for humans not for money (well... ok, at least not money focused). I hope it won't change in the future. The only concern that I see, Adobe XD might end up half developed product which has very little usage in professional areas (like edge and muse)

Anyways, I still have hope. Keep on being human!

Today I lost a couple of hours of work to Xd in a crash. Serves me right for working that long beta software without saving (spoiled by Sketch). I don't hold a crash against them, but do remember that it is still beta software.

Stability is something we are really focusing on. We(I am an engineer on XD) would love to try and stop this from happening. Is there any information you can share about what you were doing at the time to see if we can reproduce this?

Wish they would add the key command for Zoom. You know, "Z". It's annoying to have to constantly press cmd+/- all the time.
